Hobart

Boat

From the small part of Hobart we saw, we loved it.

Rigging

Like Sydney with the old buildings and harbour. But quieter and more relaxed.

  Bushells

When we arrived in the afternoon, we checked into the Woolstore Apartments, had a wander around, booked for dinner and had a glass of wine, prawns and oysters.

Mures

We had dinner here at Mures as it was my Birthday. Tim Fischer (Australian politician) was there with his family :-) Nice!

Cradle Mountain

Waterfall

Cradle Mountain Lodge was lovely. There are several walks close to the lodge and this waterfall is on one of them. Apparently Boag filmed a beer ad here.

Wombat

We saw lots of wildlife - not shy at all! Wombats.

Pademelon

Pademelons and we also say platypus, wallabies and lots of currawongs.

 Cradle Mountain

 Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake.

Burnie

I thought I'd do a couple of posts on our Tassie trip, so many lovely photos!

Lincoln House

We flew into Devonport after a full day of delayed flights (foggy Canberra) and hanging around airports! It was dark and blowing a gale. We found our rental Barina and headed off to find Burnie.

Burnie

I had booked an apartment based on a google search for art deco tasmania. It was nice and cosy with original features and (some) era style furniture.

Cosy room

Burnie itself didn't have much to offer - a few nice art deco buildings and the usual shops. There are a few big art deco houses around town that were built in the boom times of the 1930's and some lovely homes from different eras.

Art deco room

We had a nice meal and bought a bottle of wine to take back to drink in front of the gas fire. Awful coffee for breakfast at a bakery the next day and then off on our way, in lovely sunshine and warmish weather. We stopped at the visitors centre and the Makers Workshop. I loved this - a collection of local artists with their own space in the centre, doing their painting, leatherwork, printing and other arts and crafts. There was a display of fashions made from paper from a recent competition - lovely.

It would be nice to visit Burnie again in Spring, maybe next year......

Tasmania

Green

We have just returned from a week in Tasmania. We went for a friend's wedding at Cradle Mountain. We (and they) were very lucky with the weather, it was blue skies and fairly warm for the first few days.

Berries

I loved Tasmania, so much natural beauty! The variations in plants, colour and landscapes is amazing.

Pond

Will definitely return soon....
