Melbourne

Off to Melbourne next week for the long weekend to see my 'friend' who moved away shortly after I met him..... Can't wait!! Have booked tickets to see Evermore on Friday night and am hoping to get to the NGV, the horsees and a football game (AFL). Not to mention the shopping.... Oh that's right I don't have any money :-(

I went for a lovely walk this morning before work, saw many kangaroos and took pictures from the golf course, it was foggy and sunny at the same time. Photos are on flickr. I have had a few comments about the photos I put on flickr on the weekend of the cats with their new collars. Funny how cute cat photos are so popular.

Another cousin has just had a baby (their 4th) so am making a card to send them tonight and one for my friend's Mum who has a Birthday this week. This is the second wave of babies in my childless adulthood. When I first married (in 2002) and was trying to fall pregnant it seemed that all of my friends managed to start popping out babies all at once. Now it appears that my (younger) cousins are all at it, as well as another lot of friends.

Wow it has just started pouring here and my lights are flickering! Good to have some rain. Better go and batten the hatches......

Cordrazine

They are back! I was recently wondering what happened to this Australian band, after their hit "Crazy" in 1998, they disappeared. I have 2 of their CD's and still love them. I just heard an interview on the radio explaining why they haven't been around and they are releasing a new CD soon.....

Library 2.0

I registered to do the 23 Things Library 2.0 program last night. Our library has collaborated with the Yarra Plenty Library to follow their self directed 9 week online program. I am looking forward to getting into it - blogs, podcasts, RSS, wikis etc. I am hoping to get a look at the new offices and our library in June when the building is handed over to my employer. It'll give me a better idea for planning and for the move itself.

I haven't been taking any photos recently and have made no progress towards reaching my new year's resolution goals. The Settlement is getting further and further out of reach (hearing date set for February 2008 now) and I am thinking I may have to sell my car to stick it out that long. I think I'll have to convince my boss I need a big pay rise ;-)

I have been visiting the pet shop near work recently and am discovering the world of 'designer dogs'. I fell in love with two male Beagliers who have now been sold, they are a cross between a Beagle and a King Charles Cavalier, supposedly easier to train than a Beagle. Yesterday they had two new dogs in their place - Groodles! It took me a while to work out they are a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever. Very gorgeous! My garden isn't really dog friendly/proof so I know I have to resist the desire for a new pet (baby substitute).

Sydney trip

Mum, Dad, Mal and I all went to Sydney on the weekend for a family picnic at Clontarf. I met my cousin's almost 1yr old son - Henry and saw another cousin's daughter, Maddison (just over a yr old), for the second time. It was lovely watching them play and pull funny faces.

I have just finished my first scarf tonight and have a fair bit of wool left over. I guess if I make another, or something else it'll end up being less than $45 for the one scarf..... Next I want to make some cards, Mothers Day is coming up as well as a few Birthdays, people starting new jobs etc.

I pruned my roses ready for the winter freeze, have weeded and recently bought a flowering tulip plant and a freesia. I'll put them in nice pots this weekend and then in the ground in spring. It is starting to get cooler at night but has been quite warm during the day. The weekend was lovely and warm in Sydney but I suspect we may be seeing the last of the summer weather.

Ellie decided to explore during the week and I was awoken at 3.30am by a neighbour who wanted to know if I had a grey cat with big eyes. Ellie had somehow found her way inside their house and was hiding under her bed. She came out when I called luckily and didn't seem too traumatised once we got home. Needless to say I have kept both cats inside at night since then, so they go mad when I let them out for a play during the day.

On the legal front, spent some of today signing an affidavit and application for orders from my solicitor. We are due to go to arbitration next week but as of about 4pm today that is off. Apparently the 'other side' cancelled it, I will find out more tomorrow. I am hoping he just wants to settle and get this over with, but it is more likely that he has another scheme up his sleeve.

Library land is interesting at the moment with a TaxWiki and Indonesian research project currently underway. It is good to have something juicy to do and also cool to be experimenting with new ways of presenting research results to clients. I am looking forward to doing a Library 2.0 self driven course soon as part of this new direction.
